A frame is characters around the name, not a font
Every frame below is ordinary Unicode characters to the left and right of your word. The name itself is untouched: ꧁Shadow꧂ is the same six letters sitting between two symbols. That is why it pastes as text and needs nothing installed.
And it is also where the limitation comes from.
Where it pastes, and where it does not
Platforms separate the address from the label, and decoration lives only in the second.
| Field | Example | Decoration |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Username, the login | @shadow_42 | no |
| Display name | ꧁Shadow꧂ | yes |
Telegram, Discord, TikTok, Roblox and Minecraft allow only Latin letters, digits and an underscore in a username — a set that contains no decorative character at all. These are the same rules behind our username generator, enforced in code rather than by eye.
A display name, meanwhile, is a field that already accepts Cyrillic and emoji. A frame goes in without complaint.
Worth knowing before you set it
You become harder to reach. To message you, someone has to copy the name whole or know your username. One recognisable word inside the frame is the reasonable compromise.
Moderation may step in. Platforms do not forbid styled names, but some hide such profiles from search or rename them on a report. That is their call and not something we can guarantee against.
A frame does not render the same everywhere. ꧁ and ༺ come from different writing systems, and on some devices one will show as a box — not because the character is wrong but because the system font lacks it. The simpler the frame, the rarer that is: stars and brackets show up almost everywhere.
If you want different letters instead
The next page changes the letterforms themselves — gothic, script, small caps and eighteen more: nickname font generator. The two combine: style the letters first, then put a frame around the result.
Computed in your browser
The name never leaves — all twelve frames are assembled in the open tab.
Questions
Why won't the decoration go in my @username?+
A username is an address, and platforms keep it typeable: Telegram, Discord, TikTok, Roblox and Minecraft allow only Latin letters, digits and an underscore there. ꧁ is not in that set, so the whole handle is refused. Decoration belongs in the display name, which is a different field.
Which games will actually take this?+
The ones where the profile name is separate from the login: Steam, Discord, Telegram, Instagram, TikTok. In games whose character name is the login — Minecraft, Roblox, World of Warcraft — decoration will not pass, because the character set there is restricted.
Someone in my game has symbols in their name. Why can't I?+
Usually that is a different field: a lobby display name, a clan tag or a signature rather than the login itself. Sometimes it is an account made before the rules tightened — platforms rarely rename existing accounts, but new ones can no longer be created that way.
Will decoration make me harder to find?+
It can. Searching for your display name means typing those symbols exactly. Keeping one recognisable word inside the frame, rather than burying it in symbols, is the sensible trade.
